LINCOLN, Neb. - Customers of utility companies are being asked to conserve energy during this cold stretch.
Media Relations Specialist with Nebraska Public Power District Grant Otten told KXCV/KRNW that the region's districts are running at full steam.
Otten added customer should turn thermostats down to 68 degrees, turn off and unplug non-essential lights and appliances, close fireplace damper when not in use, and avoid using large appliances.
Otten also advised to not use gas or charcoal grills indoors to avoid carbon-monoxide poisoning. Similar advice has been issued by Evergy in Kansas and Missouri.
